Gia Gulotta, LPC-MHSP

Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Services Provider
Picture
Gia’s passion for therapy stems from her ability to be a grounded, trusted presence, and seeing how the strength of relationships and power of connection can propel one to move forward in life.  She is a dedicated clinician, striving to empower clients to build self-insight and awareness as they journey through eating disorder recovery. Gia cultivates a calm environment where clients feel validated, understood, and safe. She engages clients using empathy, a non-judgmental stance, and humor to form strong and meaningful therapeutic relationships. She has provided therapeutic services primarily in higher-level care treatment centers, while working with adolescents and adults seeking recovery from eating disorders, anxiety, depression and other diagnoses.
Gia’s therapeutic style is eclectic, and she utilizes evidence-based practices including psychodynamic therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).  She has worked in collaboration with adult and adolescent clients to apply various therapeutic modalities that are optimal to achieving identified goals. Gia works from a health at every size (HAES) perspective and believes in the cultivation of body acceptance and restoring clients’ self-worth. Gia enjoys conducting individual and family therapy, where clients learn to process challenging emotions and cognitions on their road to recovery and adopt healthier coping skills. In family therapy, Gia tries to connect with parents and caregivers of clients to help empower and strengthen these support systems.
Gia earned her master’s degree in mental health counseling at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. She has worked at various higher level of care treatment centers including residential treatment center in Miami, Florida and partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care settings in Cincinnati, Ohio. In relocating to Tennessee, Gia is
passionate about working in private practice, counseling clients who are motivated and looking towards recovery from an eating disorder as well as other psychological disorders, while they build a life in line with their core values. Outside of counseling, Gia enjoys cooking various cuisines, hiking with her dog, Sam, and listening to comedic podcasts.
