Ruth Juneau, M.Ed., NCC

Picture

Ruth considers it an honor to walk alongside her clients in their journey toward healing and growth. Holding a strong belief that every person is capable of change and healing, she is excited about helping people live as their true selves by working through barriers to authentic living. Ruth’s focus as a therapist is helping adults and teens unravel the tangled knots of their lives that keep them feeling lost, stuck, anxious, and inadequate. She places the therapeutic relationship at the forefront of the counseling process and believes that a relationship that embodies trust and respect has the capacity to deeply heal. Her hope is always to create a safe and comfortable space, meeting every part of you with an open heart so that you can start to feel connected to a sense of peace, spaciousness and belonging that will see you through any obstacle.
Using an integrative, trauma-informed approach, Ruth aims to integrate the whole person into the healing process - mind, body, and spirit. Depending on the unique needs and interests of each client, she incorporates a variety of approaches in practice, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) principles/skills, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Somatic Experiencing (SomEx), and Experiential Therapy. While passionate about working with individuals of all walks of life, Ruth’s particular areas of interest and expertise include eating disorders, trauma, grief & loss, self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and women’s issues.
Ruth received her master’s degree in Human Development Counseling at Vanderbilt University. She completed her internship at The Refuge Center for Counseling, then gained experience working at the PHP/IOP level of care at a treatment center in Nashville, and continues to lead individual intensives at Onsite Workshops in Cumberland Furnace, TN. Ruth has experienced her own healing journey through trauma work and growing her spirituality, which allows her to deeply connect and empathize with her clients. She applies her personal experiences facing challenges on her journey to promote optimism and self-compassion toward healing and personal authenticity. In her free time, Ruth enjoys going for long walks with her pup Pistachio, being outdoors, taking on new adventures, and spending time with friends and family.

*Ruth is working towards full licensure and is under supervision with Shari McClaren, license #3085 in TN.
